Headaches toady is one of the most commonly faced health issues that is faced by a majority of people at one time or another.

Headaches can actually be classified into 3 categories: cluster headaches, tension headaches, and migraine headaches.

Many causes are there which contribute to causing a headache. These causes include psychological changes in the head, constriction of blood vessels, abnormal neuron activity, genetic factors, excessive smoking, consuming excessive alcohol, dehydration, oversleeping, consuming too many painkillers, eye, and neck strain, etc.

Dealing with frequent headaches can be a tough task especially the pain becomes severe. That time, popping a pain-killer seems to be the only option but that is not good for your health. So, how to deal with frequent headaches? Here are a few home remedies to help you out.

  1. Ginger

Ginger reduces inflammation from the blood vessels in the head which ultimately provides you the relief. Mix equal quantities of ginger and lemon juice and consume it once or twice a day. You can also boil ginger raw ginger and sniff the vapor.

  1. Mint Juice

Menthol is the primary component in mint which is very effective in alleviating a headache. Take a handful of fresh mint leaves and extract the juice from it. Apply it on your forehead and temples to reduce a headache.

  1. Peppermint Oil

Like mint, peppermint contains menthol that opens your clogged blood vessels that cause frequent headaches. Due to its calming and soothing effects, it also relieves stress, one of the major causes of frequent headaches. Add 3 drops of peppermint oil to water and massage your temples and forehead with it. Alternatively, you can also add a few drops of peppermint oil to a pot of boiling water and inhale the vapor to relieve a headache.

  1. Basil

Basil acts as a muscle relaxant which makes it an excellent treatment for mild headaches caused by tensed muscles. It also contains analgesic and soothing effects that ease stress. Prepare basil tea by adding a few basil leaves to boiling water and allow it to simmer for 5-10 minutes. You can also add a little honey to enhance the flavor. Strain the tea and sip slowly.

Alternatively, you can also add a few drops of basil essential oil to hot water and whiff the steam to relieve headaches. You can also chew some fresh basil leaves if you aren’t able to prepare tea or create basil steam.

  1. Lavender Oil

Simply inhaling the soothing aroma of lavender essential oil can relieve tension and hence the headaches. A few researches suggest that it can also ease and improve migraine symptoms. Put a few drops of lavender essential oil on a tissue or your handkerchief and inhale it. You can also add the drops of lavender essential oil to boiling water and inhale the smell.
